Septfonds
Septfonds is situated in the Tarn-et-Garonne (Midi-Pyrenees region) in the south-west of France. About 1km from the farmhouse, Septfonds is a large village with key amenities (butcher, baker, small supermarket, petrol etc) and a few restaurants, although oddly the pizzeria is probably best. The Festival du Chapeau takes place every July and there are other events during the year.St Antonin
Saint-Antonin-Noble-Val, to use its full name, is a short drive (13km) from the farmhouse. A medieval town close to the Gorges de l'Aveyron, its narrow streets and old buildings are great for exploring and the Place de la Halle is perfect for a meal or beer - on market days it turns into a busy and exciting place offering the usual fayre that embodies a French holiday. Canoeing, rock climbing, horse riding and paragliding are all available nearby.
Cordes
Cordes is a well preserved little town that sits high on a hilltop about 40km from the farmhouse. It was given its charter in 1222 and has an ancient fortress that clings to the top of the Puech de Mordagne. Cordes is formally known as Cordes-sur-Ciel (Cordes in the Sky) reflecting the seasonal phenomenon whereby the spring and autumn mists surround the foot of the hill, making the town appear to be floating above the clouds.There's usually something happening in Cordes and so it is well worth a trip. A particular favourite is the medieval festival in July packed with activities for all the family. There are plenty of decent restaurants and bars for grabbing a refreshing drink.

The area is known for its green rolling landscape and rivers flowing through spectacular gorges. It is loved by anyone who enjoys walking, cycling, fishing, canoeing and exploring. There are fortified villages, castles to investigate, bustling markets and local fêtes or just simply relax.
